We all live in the present, and it is the result of our past. Our future is also the result of our present. So what we do in our present has a huge impact on our future. If our present is correctly led we will reap a rich harvest in future. The hermit said that the Tsar helped him and the wounded man according to the need of the time. Thus he could befriend with his enemy afterwards. The Tsar understood his logic and got the appropriate answer.
