“I am with my master” -What is the significance of the line? What did Lachmi learn about the condition of the trains on the route?

To Lachmi, Sir Mohan was more of a master than a husband. Sir Mohan waited inside the firstclass waiting room while Lachmi remained outside on the platform. In the train, Sir Mohan travelled by first-class while Lachmi had to accommodate herself in the zenana compartment. Sir Mohan prefered commanding while Lachmi obeyed him passively. It revealed a typical husband-wife relationship in a male-dominated social system.
Lachmi came to know that the trains on the route were mostly packed with passengers. It was difficult to get a seat. But the zenana compartment was relatively less crowded, and one could easily have a seat there.
