Illyria was the name of the strange land where Viola landed.
The captain gave her information about the strange land and its ruler. The ruler was Duke Orsino, a noble man.
Viola wanted to serve the duke as a page when she decided to live in Illyria. For this she dressed herself in a man’s attire that the captain had brought for her. Then the captain took her to Orsino under the feigned name, Cesario. The duke was very much pleased with the graceful manner of the handsome youth, and made Cesario one of his pages. Orsino was also fond of Cesario’s eloquence. At that time Orsino was in distress because of his love for Olivia.
